CCOS, PA News and Notes Spring 2010

     A new Physician Assistant, Laura Ziemba, joined CCOS, PA in October.  This will further speed up appointment scheduling while providing excellent Orthopaedic care for our patients.  Melissa Bolte, PA-C, a certified Physician Assistant, has joined CCOS, PA.  She is a graduate of East Carolina University and is licensed to practice in North Carolina.  Ms. Bolte is from Pennsylvania, and moved to North Carolina to get an undergraduate degree in exercise sports science at Elon University.  She relocated to the Jacksonville Area and is enjoying coastal living and practicing in Onslow County.  Ms. Bolte has fantastic credentials and is a true asset.  Ms. Bolte recently received advanced training in practice and clinical management

     Dr. McClurg is a Board Certified Orthopaedic Surgeon.  He lives and practices in Jacksonville.  Dr. McClurg has practiced at Onslow Memorial Hospital (OMH) for more than 6 years.  He was recently again named one of America’s Best Orthopaedic Surgeons by the Consumers’ Research Council of America.  This group independently compiles a list of the best doctors in the United States based on many factors.  Dr. McClurg also recently was recognized by the American Registry in their Patients’ Choice Award “this top rating has been awarded to you and a select few of the nation’s most beloved doctors”.  Dr. McClurg is a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons.  He was recently elected the vice Chief of staff for the hospital by his peers and is the only Orthopaedic Surgeon taking call at Onslow Memorial Hospital!  Dr. McClurg recently returned from Miami where he went to learn the latest technique in fixing complicated fractures.  Dr. McClurg is active in our community.  Among his many community activities he is a member of the Jacksonville•Onslow Chamber of Commerce Military Affairs Committee (MAC), which has the goal of enhancing the relationship between our Marines and their families and the surrounding community in Onslow County.

Staff News and Notes:

Christie McClurg, RN is the practice Administrator of CCOS, PA.  She is also the founding chair of the Jacksonville Medical Group Managers.  Christie also serves on the Regional advisory board for Medical Mutual.  This group is composed of practice administrators from the East Coast of North Carolina including Wilmington and Jacksonville.  Along with their counterparts throughout North Carolina they continue to improve medical practices all over the state.

Finding the best people to take care of patients is always hard but we are very lucky and have an excellent staff including:

·      Karen has 18 years of medical practice experience and has been with CCOS,PA for 5 years.  Karen is the Front Office Coordinator and is in charge of billing and insurance along with special accounts.

·      Christine is our newest Certified Medical Assistants

·      Casey is our newest Medical Assistant and X-RAY tech and she has an associates degree in Radiography

·      Heather is also one of our new Medical Assistants.  Heather has 6 years of Orthopaedic Experience.

·      Allison is our new check out staff and our collections expert

·      Stephanie is our new front office receptionist.
