Practice Policies and services

Business Services
Coastal Carolina Orthopedics (CCOS) works hard to assure patients get the maximum benefit from their insurance plan. Often times patients find their insurance plans confusing or frustrating. Please read the following financial policies and procedures and do not hesitate to call our billing office with questions you may have.
Insurance Processing
We encourage our patients to check with their insurance carrier regarding whether CCOS is in their network and with questions regarding their explanation of benefits (EOB).
We provide out of network care and strongly encourage patients to discuss with their insurance carrier the rules regarding out of network care.
As a courtesy we will file claims to our patient’s primary insurance and secondary insurance or supplemental insurance plans they may have after the primary insurance carrier has paid.
We participate in a large number of insurance types including: (click here to see a complete list of major carriers)
Medicare           Medicaid
Tricare             UHC
Cigna               Workers compensation
Credit Policy
CCOS understands the stress that increasing medical care cost puts on families and individuals. We seek to minimize cost by offering efficient evidence based care and by keeping our fees reasonable and customary. We also rely on our patients to keep cost down by showing up prepared for appointments. If you believe we have made a mistake with your account or you have questions regarding your account please ask us. You are responsible for payment of your account even if you have insurance. Your insurance coverage is a contract between you and your insurance company and you should refer to your insurance carrier customer relations department regarding questions about deductibles and co-payments.
Depending upon your coverage, you may be required to make co-payments or pay a deductible amount for office visits or surgery. Co-payments are required on the date of service and unfortunately can not be billed. Insurance payments paid directly to CCOS will be applied to your account. If there is a balance remaining you will receive a billing statement.
Monthly Billing
Billing statements are sent monthly. All charges are due and payable within 30 days of receipt. We accept all forms of payment including cash, check, Visa, Master card, and money order.
Appointment cancellation policy
In order to provide the maximum medical care in a timely manner we require all patients to provide adequate time if they are canceling their appointment. We attempt to call all patients the day before their appointment as a courtesy reminder. If it is necessary to cancel your appointment we require that you call by 10am one business day in advance. Failure to provide adequate notice causes expensive inefficiencies in our schedule and deprives other CCOS patients of that valuable appointment slot and will result in a $25 no show fee, which will be added to your account.
